About Us    March 10, 2010

We don't like to brag, but we have won a few local awads, including multiple Best of Louisville and LEO awards.

About Us Minimize

John and Vicki Hale opened Lotsa Pasta in March of 1982 in a tiny storefront on Bardstown Road.  Their original intent was to provide fresh homemade pasta to a city that had none.  The crew of two started building a loyal following from the first day the door opened and many of them are still customers.

Within a decade, success had made it necessary to move into a larger, more comfortable space in St. Matthews, our present location.  Lotsa Pasta’s mission became broader in scope to satisfy the growing food sophistication of its patrons.

While the Italian delicacies and products are still the centerpiece, hard to find international items also find prominence on the shelves.  The sociable Saturday morning line of locals talking UK-U of L game slang was now being joined by the accents of Spanish, Asian, and European clients.  The world had come to Louisville and naturally found its way to Lotsa Pasta.

A bakery was added, and started producing the classic Italian breads:  Ciabatta, Focaccias of all kinds, Rustics, and Baguettes had people dashing in the door just to pick up that special loaf.  In the best European tradition, no preservatives are added so that the loaf itself can sometimes be the centerpiece of a simple meal.

Our mission, as always, remains to bring the best of the world to you, our loyal customers.  If we don’t have it, just ask, and we will do our utmost to find it for you.  Many of our best selling items have been by request of you the shopper.

Many of our staff have been with us a long time, have watched your kids grow up, know your neighbors, relatives, and most of all your food preferences.  All of our employees are 'foodies' who enjoy discussing the latest recipe you brought in and delight in finding that hard to come by, missing ingredient.

Even though we have expanded our horizons to meet your needs, we still are that Mom and Pop store where the owners are accessible and even their three kids 16-20 can occasionally be seen grabbing lunch or helping out as needed.

So for those of you who are not yet familiar with our store, please enjoy using this website.  To our old friends and loyal customers thanks and Buon Appetito!
